The Angelo Wider Education Scholarship Fund
Angelo Wider is a visionary, dedicated to the betterment of his community and of his people. A founding member of A-PLUS, Angelo is committed to mentoring and developing postal employees to prepare them to reach their greatest potential. Angelo continues to spend his life giving back to the community and being a role model for A-PLUS. Mr. Wider was recruited out of retirement by the Military Order of the Purple Heart to lead their National Service Program to help veterans and their families’ process claims for compensation and pensions with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Angelo Wider Education Scholarship is established to honor his legacy.
GOAL: The goal of the Angelo Wider scholarship fund is to assist deserving college students in continuing their college education.
DEADLINE: The scholarship application is due by June 30th of the current year.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA: The recipient must:

Be nominated by an active member of the Washington Metro “DC” Chapter

Be enrolled in an accredited college or university as a freshman or beyond

Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater

Submit an original copy of his/her high school or college transcript

Be active in his/her community

Submit an essay on the importance of giving back to his/her community
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT: The applicant shall:

Provide a professional headshot photo

Provide the address (if you will not be in attendance) of where your funds are to be sent
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: The committee shall be made up of no less than three active APLUS members and/or others, appointed by Washington Metro “DC” Chapter Officers. The committee will be responsible for relaying policy, receiving nominations from, and for the accounting and disbursement of funds.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: The committee shall announce the recipient(s) of the scholarship at the Annual MLK March on Washington Legacy Award Banquet.
FUND SOURCE: The source of funds for this scholarship shall be by sponsor donations, fund-raisers, and private donations. Please mail scholarship donations to:
